Since the Werewolf Scandal of the Fourth Era, the Companions have been banished from Whiterun and any other major city within Skyrim. However, when in dire need, people still tend to turn to them for help. This is only done through a secret ritual, inspired by that of the Dark Brotherhood.
Now that their Werewold powers are common knowledge, the Companions do not hide this fact, but use it extensively while completing their contracts.
Still being hunted by the Silver Hand, the Companions now operate out of a secret location. It is rare for t he Companions to take on contracts outside of Skyrim, but it has happened before.
