After multiple iterations of this massively powerful political powerhouse, the Fourth Aldmeri Dominion was founded in the Fourth Era, giving it a revitalized following among the Altmeri population. Soon after its founding, Valenwood joined the Dominion, to consolidate the two nations’ power and help each other in the future. The two main powers in Elsweyr eventually agreed to join the Dominion as well, under the condition that internal Khajiiti politics were left to the Khajiit. Later on during the fourth era, the Aldmeri Dominion aided the Forbears, one of the primary Redguard political factions, in beating the Crowns, their adversaries, into submission. As a gesture to show thanks for their aid, the Forbears lead Hammerfell into joining the Dominion.
As a political faction, the Aldmeri Dominion is an extremely powerful faction which, even in all of its previous iterations, was founded and helmed by the Thalmor, an Elven Supremacist political faction. Their main goal is to establish elven supremacy and reshape Tamriel according to their vision. This is done by reaching out to other nations and adding them to their Dominion, essentially ruling them and pushing their own religious and cultural beliefs onto other nations.
Furthermore, the Aldmeri Dominion has gone to multiple wars and made agreements with the Cyrodillic Empire in the past, to force its primary enemy into submission, to try and enforce its beliefs even away from its territory. The latest of these agreements is called the Obsidian Agreement, which allows the citizens of the Empire to worship the Ten Divines, something that was previously unheard of. However, the Aldmeri Dominion would install a Thalmor agency within every city controlled by the Empire, who would be advising the leaders of those cities about how they should rule their lands, as well as report to the Dominion about the current affairs of their assigned location. This agreement was signed at the start of the Fifth Era, leading Tamriel into a newly found peace between the largest two political factions within the continent.
