The current iteration of the empire of men is helmed by the Scinette dynasty, its first emperor being the Emperor Cato Scinette, who rose to power in the first part of the Fourth Era. Since then, several emperors died, with their descendants taking over in their stead. The reach of the Empire’s power, however, is not what it used to be. Based in Cyrodiil, the entirety of this province is under the Empire’s control, as well as around half of Skyrim, called the Imperial North. This area of Skyrim has been under the Empire’s control since the Fourth Era, successfully holding on to this area for quite some time.
With the signing of the Obsidian Agreement, the Cyrodillic Empire has seen a considerably peaceful time. However, many of its citizens still do not agree with the installation of Thalmor agents within every city within the empire. The common sentiment is that the Empire is controlled by the Aldmeri Dominion.
The latest tragedy to befall the Empire was the death of the Emperor himself, Emperor Direntius Scinette. The original statement was that he died of old age. However, many, including the royals, suspect foul play, and investigations are still ongoing. In the meantime, Fanisus Scienette is said to be the next Emperor.
