Shackles of Fate

Within the cold dark interior of an old ruined fortress, a group of adventurers found themselves bound and locked inside separate cells. Without any known link between the different persons in this dungeon, the captives helped each other to exit their individual cells. Luckily, their equipment was found in a chest at the back of the dungeon. At this point, the group made their way up the stairs at the end of the hallway, arriving at a half destroyed entrance hall. Through the open doorway to the courtyard outside, the group could see a flurry of cloaks and blades, as two groups of cultists battled each other to the death.

One of these cultists, closest to the doorway, noticed the group and shouted at them to run back down into the dungeon and flee through a broken wall at the back of the cell block. He then turned his back to them and summoned what looked like a Daedric Creature ahead of him, commanding it to attack his foes. As the group ran back down the stairs and found the wall mentioned by the summoner, the group fled through and found themselves in a dark cave system behind the dungeon.

Once here, the group decided to be a bit sneaky, and slowly started making their way through the caves. At a certain point, they met a group of three cultists, who looked like they were friends of the one who told them to escape. After intimidating them into providing some information, the group learned that they were captured and were intended to be sacrificed, in order to bring back an ancient force of power. The people who came to their aid are worshipers of Hermaeus Mora, the Daedric Prince of Knowledge and Memory.

Once the group made it out of the cave system, they found out that they were within the outskirts of Southpoint, the sourthern most point of Valenwood. As one of the group, Ja’Karo Urabi lived in Elden Root, the capital of Valenwood, the group decided to make it there and try to figure out what the link between them all was, and why they were selected to be sacrificed together.
