While in Elden Root, the group decided to look around and try to find out more about their situation. Brother Decimus, as zealot who aims to root out all Daedric influence from Tamriel, started questioning people about members of cults and Daedric activieis. His zeal paid off, as against all odds, he did find a member of Hermaeus Mora’s cult, donning the same symbol on his clothes as the previous cultists. As a group, they took this elf to Ja’Karo’s residence to question him, and after getting minimal information from this scared eld, the group discussed wether they should kill him on the spot, to eliminate all lose ends. Since the group had noticed guards already keeping an eye on them and this being Ja’Karo’s residence, they decided to let him go and dispose of him later on; which Z did as she stalked him in dark shadows of the trees, with a well placed arrow, as she vanished in the dense foliage around the city.
In the meantime, the rest of the group were lead by city guards to the Altmer embassy in the South Eastern corner of the city, where they were introduced to a Thalmor agent, Corillon Anem, who was curious to know what a Cyrodillic man with the emblem of the Empire is doing questioning people within the capital city of the Bosmer. After a tense, but mostly peaceful conversation, the group was allowed to leave, much to the relief of Brother Decimus, whose hatred of the Thalmor was more than evident.
Once the group was relieved of this meeting, they were approached by an alchemist and offered a job; a simple fetch mission, to gather some mushrooms from the Valenwood forests. The party accepted the quest, if anything, to get out of the city for a while and avoid any unwanted attention by the city guard. However, this mission was not without danger, as they had to deal with a group of Senche Tigers that attacked them while foraging for these mushrooms. Once back in the city however, they did get rewarded with a handsome amount of Septims, as well as a deal with the alchemist for discounted potions and recipe sharing, whenever they returned with more ingredients from dangerous locations.
