The unrecorded Ayleid Ruin

Once the group was satisfied with the information that the monk had given them, or rather, when the monk decided that he had given them enough, the group made it out of the tavern. On the way out, Z managed to find a way to get rid of the Staff of the Everscamp, the staff they had recovered from the kid in the Opera House. She didn’t explain to the others how she did it, but they were glad the group had gotten rid of the nuisance of randomly summoned daedric creatures that follow them around. Once outside, a young man in blue cloaks approuched the group. “I saw some of you talking to the librarian, at the Imperial University. I figure you are a good fit for what I need. You will be paid handsomely, don’t you worry.”

This young wizard apprentice claims to have found an ancient ruin that is yet unrecorded. He also claims to have felt some magical essence within, which probably is attached to a magic item, which he would be glad to study. The group agreed to help, joining him on a short journey into a very dense part of a wooded area to the west of the city early the next morning.

When the scholar lead them towards this ruin, the group realised that it was an Ayleid Ruin, which would mean this place has been here for thousands of years. Most of the architecture was either destroyed, or overgrown with vegetation; perhaps the reason why it was never found before. The young man lead the group towards a flight of stairs, leading to a large stone door. He opened it easily, stating that he had opened it before, but did not venture deep into the ruin.

On the inside, the air was dry, the ground below their feet covered with a thin layer of dust all over. However, some sharp eyes within the group noticed that some areas had small footprints trailing around in the dust.

As soon as the group got inside, they noticed a poison dart trap, which most of them avoided, thanks to Morag’s arcane skills. Just ahead, the group found a large metal door without any handles. Ja’Karo touched the small blue gem in the middle, and the door opened by itself.

However, as they explored, a whole mass of rats, many of them the size of a large dog, swarmed them from all directions. Fighting them off was pretty much a breeze, rats aren’t that much of an issue for this group. The scholar, however, was taken aback by the sheer number of rats and their impressive mass. Once the corridor was littered with corpses of the vermin, the group started moving slowly deeper into the ruin, finding a large sanctum, with a shallow pool in the middle, with numerous magically lit chandelliers, and quite an amount of dead bodies around the room; which started to twitch and move as soon as the group made it to the entrance.
