Dwarven metal fights back

Having some time to roam around, the group started to check out the loot that these creatures had gathered in their ramshackle camps, while Nerk tried to figure out what they were. Taking a good hard look at them, the resident Dwemer of the group realised that these were Falmer, Snow Elves that had been experimented on by his kin a few thousand years in the past, before the supposed extinction of his own race.

Nearby, the group also found a skeleton of an adventure, skewered by Falmer arrows. As they approached it, an apparition appeared before them, of a group of adventurers, mourning the loss of one of their members. Naarean decided to cast the Speak with Dead on the skeleton, but this unfortunately only revealed that he was with a group of looters when he died.

They then entered a small building that was nearby, what looked like an ancient workshop. Large columns lined the sides of the room, even though the building did not seem to require that much structural support, with metal pipes that were affixed to the ceiling, linking into each on of them. A round brass door could be seen in each column, which upon group entering the room, opened up to belch out robotic spiders that tried to attack them, but they were easily defeated before they could do much to the group. After studying one of them, Nerk realised that these were a defensive type of Dwarven Spiders, an automaton usually used by the Dwemer for security.

They then delved deeper, finding what looked like a storage room. As soon as they entered, a new apparition formed in front of them, one of the adventurers they had seen in the previous one was saying his goodbyes to another of his dying companions. This room, too, had some security elements to it; Dwarven Spheres sprung out of the walls to defend their master’s lair. They were also dealt with and the group could take a look at what the Dwemer left behind here. Once again, Nerk being in his element here, figured out what these automatons are, and before leaving this building, he managed to rewire one of the spiders to follow him around.
