What the Fzeg?

The werewolves in the Dwemer ruin in Blackreach were strong, but nothing the HAS could not deal with. However, one of the werewolves seemed to be bigger and more feral than the others. Whenever one of the werewolves was slain, it shifted back into the humanoid version of the person who had transformed. The larger one, however, burst into a dense mist, which then promptly flew off deeper into the ruin. One of the party members recalled hearing or reading about this type of creature; a Fzeg, an unholy hybrid of werewolf and vampire. This was also distinctly not mentioned by anyone from the Riente clan. Undeterred by the abomination they had just dealt with, the group moved deeper into the ruin, where they found an old mechanical elevator, that took them up to a small cave system.

Exploring this area, the group found innumerable bones and broken skeletons, some with small bits of meat still on them; clearly a feeding den for the wolf beasts. Deeper within the caves, the group found a man, chained up, bruised and battered. However, his spirits seemed to still be high. Finding out the group was not affiliated with the werewolves who had captured him, he told them that he had been captured by Haron Castus himself, the leader of the clan, and the group’s target. He also agreed to help them spread information about the werewolves within Solitude to try and turn the city guard against them, as he was a member of the guard himself. After being released from the manacles chained to the wall, the guard lead them to a deeper section of the caves, where they found a long ladder leading to the storage room of the villa owned by Castus himself. There, they stalked the residence until they found him reading a book in his bedroom. Turning the hunter’s tactics against him, the group pounced on the man, using magic to subdue him, and killed him off just a few seconds after he turned into a Fzeg himself. Once struck down, he also turned into mist and flew out of the window.
